WHISKY AN' A'

THAT VI

Saturday 23rd May 2009

Thank you to everyone who attended Whisky An' A' That VI, Ayrshire's biggest whisky festival which was held on Saturday 23rd May 2009, at Ayr Town Hall.

This year’s festival was our biggest to date with a record number attending what was a great festival.

There were 18 major whisky companies exhibiting over 150 whiskies which included Limited Edition and rare hard to find bottling's along with new releases, like, the new Glencadam 30y/o Vintage, Ardbeg Supernova and our very own Glenfarclas 12y/o Limited Edition bottling which was very popular to name but a few.

There were also Whiskies on show from India, Japan and America, which all proved very popular.

Also attending on the day was Master of Malt and whisky author John Lamond, who was on hand to sign copies of his whisky book The Malt Whisky File as well as mingling with the crowds and sampling the delightful whiskies on show.

For more information on John, click on below link.

We would also like to thank all the Distillery Managers and Master Blenders who attended this year’s event and passed on their knowledge to the Festival goers.

There was a full entertainment programme, which was produced and directed by our M.C for the afternoon, Christopher Neil.

The Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra, Aileen Robertson's Highland Dancers, pipers from Ayr Pipe Band, all kept the crowds entertained throughout the afternoon.

MASTERCLASSES

There were two Masterclasses held throughout the afternoon. Both being sold out well in advance of the Festival.

Ardbeg evangelist Davinia Small, hosted the first Masterclass of the day, talking the whisky enthusiasts through Six different vintages from the popular Islay Distillery, including there latest limited release, Ardbeg Supernova, the most heavily peated Ardbeg bottling to date.

Glenfarclas hosted the second Masterclass of the afternoon with Brand Ambassador George Grant, letting the customers lucky enough to have a ticket, sample six different vintages from the Limited Family Casks range.

FESTIVAL TESTIMONIALS

Below are just some of the comments we have received from Customers and Exhibitors from the day.

Another great event - I just wanted to congratulate you. It was absolutely jumping!

Mark Connelly

I am sure that we are not the first to congratulate you on a fine event. We certainly had a fantastic time and it looked like everyone else did too! The venue was ideally placed, the event was so well organised, the sandwiches were lovely and everyone was so friendly. We even managed to get a last minute place on the Ardbeg Masterclass which just the day.

This was our first Whisky An' A' That Festival, but we would certainly hope to do it all again next year, for sure!

Julie Deans and Steve Higson

Many thanks for both a wonderful day at the festival and meeting you all. The Ardbeg Masterclass was superb. As soon as you know 2010 date let us know !!!!

Barbara and Gwyn Martin

Now, as a first timer to any whisky show, I had the absolute best day imaginable, I bought 3 tickets from yourself in Xmas week, and took 2 of my friends, who couldn't believe how good it was too. None of us are experienced whisky drinkers, but found that thanks to the well organised and friendly stalls, and also to the positive chat with the punters attending we discovered so much about the subject.

Brian Moultrie

Thanks for a great show, I throughly enjoyed it. The crowd were superb, they all seemed to have a ball.

Calum, McMillan, Diageo GB

It was a great day and everyone enjoyed it, I have watched the YouTube film and it is very good, as for your organisation of the event it was as good as I have been involved so a big thank you to you and your staff Robin.

Colin McEwan, Cellar Trends

It was really good event. A real whisky event for real whisky lovers.

I have received a mail from Ralfy and watched one of the videos. He is one of great whisky maniacs, isn't he? Hoping to visit again next year to meet more whisky lovers.

Misako Udo, Suntory Yamazaki

Your Festival was very well organised and congratulations are due for all the hard work from your team-these shows just do not happen, they are made to happen and we are very pleased to be associated with the Festival and with Robbie's Drams.

Stewart Laing, Managing Director, Douglas Laing and Company

I enjoyed my first visit to Whisky An' A' That Festival. I have been to a few of these events now and I thought your
event was very well organised and the vast majority of your visitors were genuine Whisky people who seemed to greatly enjoy their day. I also thought your staff very well organised and very helpful to customers.
